Old boyfriends and a winner!

She looks nothing like me but what a day I've had!  Today is a day of memories and memorials where do boyfriends come into the equation?  I had a dream last night about guys and boyfriends in my life none of which were in the military.  Then today Mom was watching 'Cops' on TV and a guy reminded me of my idol on the department.  He was my protector, my co-heart, partner (not really) but since I was the only woman on patrol on the night shift he was always the first to arrival after me on a call.  He had a southern accent and if someone tried to pull one over on him he'd say 'My mama did'nt raise no fool, but she did raise me in South by God Carolina!'  I just adored him and I'll tell you in the 23 years we were together working side by side he'd tick alot of people and officers off but we were always confidants.  I retired and I've was told 3 weeks later Larry walked into personnel and retired, within 3 weeks he sold his house and he moved to the midwest.  And before you all ask, yes he was married and his wife was the spittin image of me cause I met her several times.   And this story has what to do with cardmaking?????  Enjoy the card Micki gave me the image and I just colored it with Copics and mounted it on Making Memories Cosmopolitan, SU  so saffron and whisper white and Michael's dollar ribbon.

Celebrate Red, White & Blue - 'Operation Write Home' Blog Hop

Welcome to my little world of cards.  If your here for the 'Operation Write Home' Blog Hop you've come to the right place.  I so love making cards and paying tribute to all our military personnel everywhere around the world.  This Blog hop is to bring awareness to our men and women in the military and all that they do for us.  I personally make cards for "Operation Write Home" because its my little way of showing that I really am proud of our soldiers and our wonderful country we live in.  If you don't do anything else this beautiful weekend take time to pay tribute to all those military people.
Our challenge was to make a red, white and blue card any design so my top card is a digi 'Leap of Faith' from my friend Deedee.  I used SU card stock and Francis Meyer DSP,Prima flowers, gems and ribbon.  Deedee just opened her digi store and I hope you'll all take the time to visit her  http://www.deedeesdigis.blogspot.com/

Now take a minute to see the Easle card tutorial and
then sign up for Blog Candy!!!

Now I love Easel cards, our cards were meant to be displayed and what a perfect way to show them off.  So today I'll show you how to make this darling Easel card in 5 easy steps:
Supplies: One 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"  card stock
One 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" piece card stock
One 5 1/2" X 1 1/4" piece card stock
Scoring tool
Stamps
Added card stock for inside of card
Embellishments
Step 1) Score your 5 1/2 X 8 1/2" cs @ 4 1/4" and 2 1/8"
Step 2) Decorate the inside of the card and the bottom part of the card that will hold the top standing up.
Step 3) decorate the front of your card (your 5 1/2" X 4 1/4"cs).
Previously I made some water colored roses using the SU Fifth Avenue Floral and used them for the front of my card, then I added some Coral Pink ribbon and a bow to finish off the front.
Step 4) Glue the front of the card to the small 2 1/8" piece. If you get confused look at the photo below. The  5 1/2" X 2 1/8" is where you glue the top of your card and yes it's only glued half way.

Step 5)  Put in your verse if you haven't already and any embellishments and your finished.  As you can see with the photo I popped the rose up and used a large button as the stopper.
Now that we're done with the tutorial if you have any questions please email me at: azgramtn@bellsouth.net and I'll get back with you.  Now how about some Blog Candy?   I'll put together a small package of goodies to one lucky winner.  Just post a comment and on Monday I'll draw a winner in the early evening.
Thanks for stopping by and now continue on the Blog Hop to see Susan at http://salondarte.blogspot.com/
Have a great day and a wonderful safe weekend.
God Bless,
Jeanine

Celebrate Memorial Day with OWH Blog Hop

Well its almost time for the Blog Hop but I've got one more day to  get all prepped.  Wow it's gonna be a busy time but until then Deedee my friend donated this digi to me so I could kick off the OWH Blog Party in style.  She just started her store at: http://www.deedeesdigis.blogspot.com/ and she has some super cute digi's available.  This one I colored with Copic's E 21, E31, E35, R29, B29.  Then I sewed some red, white and blue SU card stock together with Francis Meyers Patriotic DSP.  I added some star gems and used my SU punch to make the greeting look like its on dog tags.  If you get a chance to check out Deedee's Digi's I'm sure she'd be grateful, then tune in tomorrow for the 'Operation Write Home' blog hop where there will be free give aways, blog candy, tutorials and some beautiful cards I've heard there is over 135 bloggers taking part.  Until then, God Bless,

Pretty in Pink

This is my card for today, its a Whipper Snapper stamp that I used and colored with Copic's then put on SU card stock layering it several times.  I added a Organdy white ribbon and bow and tiny greeting.  I've been busy with the Operation Write Home Blog Hop coming up this weekend and will be offering a tutorial and blog candy for the inspiration that we should all "Pay it forward".  If you have the time to make some cards this weekend for OWH or just want to donate some cards, envelopes or postage you can contact me or www.owhstarsandstamps.org/   I've been making cards for almost a year and try to make 100 a month, its what helps keeps my sane.
Today I had to take Mom to the heart specialist it was her 6 month check up and Dr. Powers said she was doing great with a strong heart and great BP, Cholesterol and lipids.  I wanted to talk to the doctor alone about Mom but Mom pitched such a fit it didn't happen.  She wouldn't talk with the doctor but yet when I told him she wasn't sleeping well she denied it. Said I was telling stories, then I asked him to check her throat because of her choking and always feeling like something is stuck.  She said she didn't have a problem and if any of this was leading up to putting her in the hospital she wouldn't deal with it.  I wanted to ask him about her being delirious so much lately but she was so hostile by then we left.  Now I'm just trying to stay away from her or I'll lose my temper and I can't do that.  Well enough of me, please know I appreciate you listening to me it at least makes me feel like I'm not alone.
God Bless,

Your the cream in my coffee

Well its Monday and I did have a great time this weekend creating lots of cards in the Studio while I did laundry in the next room.  I pulled out several stamp sets I haven't used in a long time and had some fun.  This first card is all SU paper, the blue dots was just a scrap I found, a MS decorator punch and OCL stamp set 'Fueled by Caffeine' and the verse I did on the computer.

This was a real simple card that I stamped coffee beans in Versamark on the red SU card stock, then added Pacific Blue cs and ribbon with black eyelets to match the black steam coming from the coffee the image is from Whipper Snapper.  I colored all this with Copic's and finished 100 cards that I will mail off tomorrow for Operation Write Home headquarters.   I'm really proud that in 9 months I've made 500 cards for OWH its been my sanity for quite some time.

I have nothing new to report, Mom is still getting up about 3:30 AM and wandering around, she never attempts to go outside but she sure is confused, I get her back to bed and within an hour she's up, dressed and finding the couch to sit on.   I'll send her back to bed and she'll undress get in bed and sleep maybe 2 hours and she's up dressed and down here again.   Today she has been talking to the girl next to her at dinner, OH and she's been staring at the crown molding smiling this afternoon.  When I asked her what she's smiling at she said the cow the lady said we could have when she moved.  I asked if it was in here and she said no out there in the field.  Most of the time she can't form sentences because she says the words just aren't there but today she has been fine with speech but way out there in la la land.   Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers I really appreciate them.
You all have a wonderful day and I'll chat with you tomorrow.
God Bless,
Jeanine

Break Time oh and the winner is!

I could say it's Friday but in my world of retirement most days are all the same except right now their getting tougher and tougher.  Making cards are my release and I haven't had time lately until today when I shipped off Granny Charlotte's Blog Candy and then came home to make a few cards.  I also need to work on my tutorial for the Blog Hop on OWH next Saturday.  Well this card I made today was a snap I used K & Co. HM Specialty paper Simple PAZ.  and a embroidered flower.  The verse is one of my favorites.

Before I forget I did the drawing tonight at 9 PM and 2 Happy Stampers won the Spellbinder dies you have until May 27th to contact me,  please send me your address and I'll have them in the mail as soon as possible.

Unfortunately Mom is having some really bad days lately.  She's up at all hours of the night lately so that means I'm awake most of the night.  She is totally confused about almost everything, she is scared of everything she can't get dressed because she doesn't know where her clothes are and she refuses to talk because she says she can't remember words.  I've never deal with this before and I'm at a loss for what to do or how to handle it.  I find myself walking away before I lose my temper and talking to God almost constantly because I'm lost and frustrated.   I feel like she's going downhill fast and she is complaining of chest pain, stumbling and when I took her to the doctor on Monday she had a bladder infection.  I am so stressed I've decided to take a break from the blog for a few days.  Thank you for letting me vent if your still reading I appreciate your comments that at least lets me know someone is listening to me.
I'll be back on Monday hopefully in better spirits.

Roses, Roses, Roses

Today I got back to the Studio and packed up Granny Charlotte's Blog Candy, then I sat down and decided it was time I tried those Roses and re-inkers.  As you can see I love pink so that was the majority of roses I made.  Now I have to be honest I have a little artist dish and I put pinks in without writing it down the colors.  I think with a lot of practice I could make these gorgeous like the other girls do but I didn't have much luck with the puddles of water and then touching the re-inker with a water brush.

I had alot of fun with this, I used SU card stock and the stamp set Fifth Avenue Floral, I stamped the rose on the card stock and then added a leaf and layered the watercolor rose.  Then I added a butterfly that Karen sent me from SU, I added ribbon and mini gems to make a simply card beautiful.

I'd like to know if I've been black balled from the blog list or what?  I am totally in awe that I offered a $200 blog candy and only had 19 ladies enter for that drawing.  Now I offer a second chance Spellbinders Rectangle dies and still it seems that somethings wrong.  I'm getting over 100 hits a day since I started the blog candy contest but I'm lucky to get maybe 5 comments a day.  Now when I partake in the 'Operation Write Home' blog hops I was swamped with comments and I didn't offer anything but a tutorial so what's going on?  OK, I just wanted to vent so I'll step away from the podium and go to bed.
You all have a blessed day!!!

Happy Blog Anniversary

This is my daughters 41st birthday today it's also my Blog's first anniversary, the day I started to share my feelings and ideas on this blog.  Doesn't it just amaze you how many things can happen in just a year? Last year I had back surgery then 7 months later I had hip replacement, I started this blog because so many of my friends thought I should share my talent and start blogging.  Well being the hip granny that I am I decided this new computer stuff wasn't gonna keep me down and I jumped in both feet and I haven't stopped since.  Thank you each of you for your encouragement and support I can't tell you how much I appreciate your friendship.

Now on to the blog candy drawing.  I took all the names through the past 30 days and had Mom draw one tag out and the winner is Granny Charlotte
if you will contact me at AZGramTN@bellsouth.net with your address I will get this package in the mail right away.
Now for the surprise I have an extra Spellbinders Rectangle dies and so I would love to share it with someone that really needs it.   Let me know by leaving a comment and I will do a random drawing on Friday for the winner.  Have a wonderful night and thanks again to the girls that entered comments for a chance to win the wonderful blog candy.

Blog Candy Drawing

Today was a busy day so I'm posting another Black Magic card since I haven't had any stamping time in 2 days.  Mom (91) got up this morning at 7 AM and came in my room.  She woke me and told me 'it was time' and to call Vicki (my daughter).  When I asked her why she said 'its time to have the baby' I sat up in bed and 'What are you talking about?'  Mom said she was ready to push and she had to have Vicki to help so she (Mom) could have the baby.  Well to make a long story short I got up dressed and came down to the living room to talk with Mom.  We went to the walk in clinic and Dr. Becker decided she had a bladder infection after a urine and blood test.  Mom still says she feels like pushing and knows although she hasn't messed around lately that she feel pregnant.  Needless to say I've been busy all day dealing with Mom and getting some antibiotics medicine.  I tell you each day is a real experience with Mom especially because she knows she's right, and I don't know a thing!

Blog Candy drawing in 3 days!

I learned this technique the other day from Wendy, she calls it Black Magic.  I used SU Garden Silhouettes, watercolor pencils, and white craft ink.  After stamping the images I let them set for a while to dry, then I took my watercolor pencils and colored the images.  After I got the look that I wanted I added white pen marks.  I pierced the card stock, added a ribbon and bow and I was done.   You can see more of these Wendy's place: http://www.wickleywonderfulcreations.blogspot.com/

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT

Butterflies & Blog Candy

I love butterflies almost as much as I love Eagles so this is a butterfly I used Copic's on the image.  Karen Foster - Daisy DSP.  The stamp is Butterfly from the Art Institute Glitter Inc. and I used Crystal effects over the butterfly once I finished coloring it.  The 'Friends' is from some DSP and I just cut it out and mounted it on green card stock.  It's the 14th of May and I have 45 cards ready for 'Operation Write Home'.

Blog Candy drawing in 6 days!!!!

ALOHA

When my friend came down last year and re-designed my Studio she filled a drawer with envelopes and card sets that I had accumulated.  Among those were these darling Stampendous white men's shirt cards.  Yesterday I found them and quickly grabbed SU Delight in Life stamp set.  I used Groovy Guava, Tempting Turquoise, Taken with Teal, Red Riding Hood inks from an a sponge.
As you can tell I didn't stop with just one I got taken away.  Aloha! I've been there twice and would go again in a heart beat, Hawaii is for sure one of the most beautiful places in the world.
BLOG CANDY
drawing is in 6 days, today I made a list of the entries
Today's candy is a Storage Accessory Case.
I expected tons of entries for $200 in Blog Candy but shocking only 18 ladies have entered the contest with a total of 113 entries. I am totally amazed more people haven't entered but so be it.
I wish each and everyone of you best wishes.

Inchies are a fav !

This is my Inchie's challenge card and it was a challenge!  I used Yo Yo Yellow and White card stock from SU and I hate to say this but a scroll stamp of which I don't know the makers name.  I cut a piece of yellow cardstock 7/8 inch wide and then stamped it.  Then I used my Spica pens and highlited the stems and leaves.  Then I cut them apart at 7/8 inch, silly me didn't think to put them in order just tossed them to the side so when it came to mounting on 1 inch white card stock I was fine but they didn't line up so I had to play puzzle maker of which I am not good and then I just settled on what I put together.  Then I did the center piece and then pulled it all together, I used a piece of card stock 1/8 inch to make sure the inchie's were the exact 1/8 inch apart.   Then I stamped Friends from the SU stamp set and added a white ribbon to highlite the card.  I love inchies so I'll play along more often this was fun.

Now its Day 24 in the Blog Candy only 8 days to go so don't forget to make a comment each day to better your chances of winning this $200 BLOG CANDY!!!!!

Using up the scraps!!

I sure am on this quilt trip aren't I?  Well I'm using tons of my scraps up and enjoying different patterns to do.  I just used my one inch square punch on my scraps and put them in a pattern.  Then I stamped using Papertrey clear stamp for the verse.  I added ribbons and some flowers from my stash and I made 5 cards.  I already have 42 cards made for OWH but I'm preparing for the Memorial Weekend Blog Hop.
Then I came up with these......I love black, white and gray cards they are pretty yet can be masculine.  I used SU Inspired by Nature and Martha Stewarts Deer and Bird punches, a little ribbon, vellum, SU scallop punch, and Justrite circle stamp.  These have to be a favorite of mine because its a sentiment about God.

Your are the best cupcake!

I love cupcakes I don't eat many but I sure love how you can decorate them all different ways.  I bought this cupcake stamp from Ellen Hutson's.  I used some Sweet & Sassy DSP and the lacy white paper is the backing from a 1 1/2 inch red border.  The flower is from the bucket of flowers I bought from Lakeside for $4.99 for over 100 flowers.  If your looking for cute scrapbooking or card making stuff Lakeside usually has some good bargains and they have a great website.
My second card I used the same stamp but colored it all red then I put Crystal Effects on for the frosting.  I used some SU DSP in red and the blue is SEI DSP.  The flower is more from the Lakeside collection and the center is a brad I colored with Copic's E35 and put white dots on it.  Quick and simple cards.

OK so its day 22 of the Blog Candy that means only 11 days left for you to leave a comment and enter for the blog candy.  You will see in the end that this bundle is worth $215, so tell all your friends and enter as often as you want to better your chances.

Quilt fever

I just love quilts but I especially love paper piecing.  So I made 4 cards and had these scraps left over so I punched out 1 inch squares and made up some fun cards for the troops 'OWH'.  Yep I added some flowers and some ribbon so you think they'll like em?
The DSP is Sweet & Sassy by K & Company flowers are from Prima and ribbons are Certainly Celery from SU.
Today I had to go in to the doctor's office I've had some problems with my leg since I had my hip replacement.  My explanation is when I walk up and incline or go up the steps my right leg wobbles and I feel like it giving way.  So they took X-rays and think it could be a hair line fractor or something else I won't mention.   Next Wednesday I have an appointment for a bone scan and I should know a few days after that.

May 18 is the big day my One year Anniversary of my Blog.
So I'm having this 30 days of Blog Candy and hope you will add a comment as often as you want for a chance to win $215 worth of BLOG CANDY.

Robbie the robot

Cute little card I made with a 99cent stamp from Imagination at Paper Wishes.  I thought I was behind the times since I didn't have a robot stamp so I grabbed this one and he's easy to color with Copic's and super easy to make the card with Karen Foster DSP and Dew Drops.

Circling around!

Actually this card I made yesterday because today I drove to Alcoa, TN to see about an RV.  I spent 2 1/2 hours with Tyler the salesman and told him I wasn't really sure what I had decided as far as RV or camp trailer.  It was a fun day to get away for a while when I knew my Mom was in capable hands of a care giver.  Just me driving around thinking and dreaming of when I'll get to travel, where I'll go, what I'll pack, what stamps and papers I'll put in my travel pack.  It was a relaxing day for me and an interesting one.
